$1,580,000 to Be Distributed To Boca West Foundation Charities

The Boca West Foundation held its Foundation events week in April which included the 5th Annual Golf Challenge and the 4th Annual Concert for the Children.  Thanks to the tremendous generosity of the Boca West members, our corporate sponsors and our friends throughout the county and around the country.  We are very proud to announce that $1,580,000 will be distributed to 25 children’s charities in the south Palm Beach County area reaching 5,000 kids who are at risk every day.

These funds will clothe, feed, educate, mentor, and make safe these young people from birth through their college years.  We continue to make a dent in the viscous cycle of abuse and poverty that challenge “our” kids.

The extremely hard working and passionate Board of the Foundation (Arthur Adler, Yvonne Ackerman, Stephen Blank, Howard Boilen, Avron Fogelman, Shep Forest, Bernard Friedman, Neil Gillman, Martin Jaffe, Donald Janower, Phil Kupperman, Michael Lissauer, Joel Macher, Bernard Robinson, David Rubin, Aubrey Strul, and Richard Zenker) has many goals but none greater than helping our children.  For the Foundation to be honored in the past few months by such wonderful organizations such as The Rotary Club of Boca Raton (Opal Award) and JAFCO (Founders Circle Award), has made it a very special year.  We are proud that our golf tournament each year is sold out and is considered the finest in Palm Beach County.

Everyone knows that this is because Boca West has the best staff, management, and facilities in South Florida.  Our Concert for the Children now draws almost 2,000 attendees every year. It is our goal to continue to put together the best golf events and shows that we can in the future.

The events were extra special for some people and we congratulate:

There are so many moving parts involved in putting on these events and this is the only time we can thank some very special people:  Dennis Leahy, General Manager of Dignitary Transportation for providing all the movement of our performers.  To Damian Polgar and the great people of Alpine Jaguar and Steve Kanowitz of Gutterman’s for providing our hole-in-one prizes.  To Carl Lender and Michael Karp at Hotwire; to John Entenberg, Bill Goettart, and Karli Vazquez at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management; Phil Biegelsen at Fidelity, Josh Goldglantz and Seth Kaplan and all our friends at Gunster… you are the best in the world.

We raised over $80,000 in our second super raffle, thanks to Joel Macher.  Nothing could have been accomplished without the providers of our prizes; Heather Shaw at Saks Fifth Ave., Scott Grody of Scott Grody Travel and Stephen Hedyt at Elite Island Resorts.

So many kids are going to have a far greater chance to succeed because of Norman Radow and his company, RADCO, and Sally and Aubrey Strul, sponsors of our new $150,000 sports challenge for kids and Martin and Sharon Jaffe, Avron and Wendy Fogelman, Neil and Doris Gillman, Richard and Jane Zenker and Barbara and Dr. Donald Janower who all went the “extra step” this year.

We look forward to next year and be on the lookout for a surprise announcement about a new fall program that will be very special.

Remember, it's all about the kids!
